About

The National Competition shall be conducted by the ADR Society of Amity Law School, Noida. The Competition shall extend to 3 days, which are inclusive of events namely: Med-Arb, Negotiation, Client Counselling and Arbitration Award Writing Competition. The brief primer of the events is as follows: The Med- Arb Competition is a hybrid of Mediation and Arbitration and is subject to variations. In the initial phase, the presiding neutral third – party acts as a mediator and coaches (or) encourages the parties towards a settlement. In the shadow of Med – Arb, the participants first, try and resolve the dispute through mediation, failing which the parties adopt the process of arbitration. While, the competitors conduct an initial interview with a person playing the role of the client and then address both the client’s legal and non-legal issues in Client Counselling Competition.

Objective

The main objective of this tournament is to bring out the latent talents of students, providing them with a learning experience and building their competitive essence.

It seeks to inspire the students to explore the various aspects of dispute resolution, understand its intricacies and receive a more practical understanding of out of court settlements, which will in due course promote the various mechanisms of ADR.

It’s a 3 day event which will comprise of four sub-events namely Med-Arb, Negotiation, Client Counselling and Arbitration Award Writing.

It is a unique initiative aimed at providing a platform to students from across the globe to learn and hone their alternative dispute resolution skills in cross-cultural settings.

It is one of the best avenues worldwide where students can experience a medley of dispute resolution activities simultaneously.

Events

Med- Arb Competition – It is a hybrid of Mediation and Arbitration. Each team will consist of 2 participants. A neutral party is adopted for mediation and if failed the party must go for Arbitration.

Negotiation competition – Each team will consist of 2 participants one will be the attorney and the other being the client, who will negotiate the differing party in the most adept manner.

Client Counselling Competition – Each team shall consist of two members. The Competition simulates a law office consultation in which two law students, acting as lawyers are presented with a hypothetical dispute brought before them by a Client-actor.

Arbitration Award Writing Competition – One member of each team will participate in this competition and deliver an award within the stipulated time.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is Rs. 1500/- for each participant (Inclusive of Accommodation Fee).

Demand draft along with a copy of registration form should reach to the given address within a week from the date of online registration.

Each event shall construe of not more than 30 teams across the nation. The teams are accepted on the basis of first-cum-first-serve.
